[Q] I think I bricked my phone!

Hi guys, I'm in trouble... I think I bricked my LG Venice (Optimus L7?) tonight. My phone has been using a lot of battery power even when idle/standby and it hangs during boot so I was trying to install the ZV6 update (currently have ZV5). I installed the drivers from the LG website, installed the LGMobile Support Tool (1.6.2.2) but it just would not detect my phone. Tried different USB ports, turned on debugging, but it still didn't work.

So I shut the phone off and restarted, but it didn't detect the phone. I shut the phone off again and tried starting it in download mode (hold vol + and - and power), it booted quickly to the desktop this time but the program still didn't detect the phone. I figured I did something wrong, so I turned the phone off, unplugged it, and tried the process for download mode again, but this time it got stuck in a boot loop: it shows the LG screen for a second, goes blank, then shows the logo again. *The cable wasn't plugged in*, which I think caused the problem.

I pulled the battery, replaced it, and then used a different method to get to download mode: vol + and - and plug in the cable. It's stuck at the "Download is in progress. Do not disconnect cable" screen.

The support tool now detects the phone, and says that an update is available. but when I try getting the update, it stops at 40% - "Checking the cell phone #", and reports an error: "Software update is not supported for this model". Same result with the "Recovery phone" option. However, the LG730 is listed as a supported model.

If I pull the battery and turn the phone on, it gets stuck in the boot loop again.

Did I just brick my phone? I'd really appreciate any help you can give!
