[Q] StreetPass

Hi to all,

I am looking for some explaining about StreetPass technology that has in Nintendo 3DS where it can exchange information with another device.
Is it a Bluetooth, WiFi direct?

The question is if we can use a similar feature to exchange information between Android mobiles
