android emulation scene

I started to searching for MAME android emulator and I had the impression that devs do not make much effort in emulation software developing. For example MAME emulator runs 0.139 romset which is a little outdated. Also I didn't find much discussed threads here about emulation.
Why? Is android a not so good platform for emu developing? Or what else?
