Battery Saving

Hey guys I've been using android since the dinc 1 and just got around to buying JD Ultimate after seeing how much battery the balanced/free mode saved me, and wanting/needing a wifi/data auto toggle. Instantly I am regretting this. It spontaneously turns wifi off when the phone is on, sometimes wont even let me connect without closing JD... Am I doing something wrong or is anyone else having this issue? and if I am not at fault how can I get an alternative to this app?
