App not working on Samsung

Hi,
I've written an app which I tested on my Nexus 7 (2013,stock), Nexus 5 (stock), OnePlus One (stock cos12.1)and the emulator without any problems. It also works on a Xperia Z3.
However, two friends of mine are using a Samsung device and both tell me that the app is immediately force closing.

Since I don't have any Samsung device for testing, I'm currently out of ideas on how I can check what's causing those force closings.

The app is compiled for a minimum sdk of 19 with the Android Studio and I'm using one main activity with different fragments.

I hope someone is able to give me any hint about what may cause the force closings (I can provide more information if needed)

Unsecure lockscreen: This profile option is disabled by a device administrator policy

Hi,

on my Galaxy S5 (klte) I am using Fusion rom (Androi 5.1.1). From the start (after a clean flash and installing gapps) I can not change the lockscreen to "unsecure". In Settings>System profiles>[choose the settings of any profile] I am greeted with the stated error message.
I tried:
-Removing all the administrators from Settings>Security>Device Administrators
-Switched all the credentials in Settings>Security>Trusted Credentials to off.

The phone is not encrypted and I do not have any Exchange Mail Accounts set up (just two google accounts).
Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of this annoying policy?

Adding LTE bands to Huawei Honor 4X (Che2-UL00)

Hi,

First of all, I don't know if Kirin processors support more bands than it's actually claimed to, but considering the fact that most (if not all) of Huawei Honor 4X versions (Che2-XXXX) have the same hardware configuration, but different bands compatibility, it might have some software imposed restrictions just like Qualcomm devices have, in which case I'm interested if someone managed to add more bands (specifically LTE800 MHz, B20).

On the internet there is a tutorial for Honor X1 7D-503L, but it's not well written and I can't even understand the software used because it's in Chinese. Also, in Balong Debugging mode my phone shows up in Device Manager using some COM16-21 ports which that program doesn't even have.

[Q] How do I grant an app a permission which it does not ask for?

I'm creating a Xposed module and have come to the conclusion that it cannot read from the filesystem from within a hooked method. So I need to grant the target app access to the filesystem.

How would I go about this on Lollipop 5.1? Thanks!

Changing stock Navbar icon dimensions

Hello :)

I'm currently interested in theming and have started making some icons, however when i insert them into the softkeyz app, they are all scaled wrong?

I have done some reading and discovered the stock dimension in pixels is 240x144. Is there a way to make this bigger?

Some themes from the playstore for my Xperia Z3 seem to have mastered this, as they have the home soft key as text e.g "Xperia"... and its scaled nicely and looks great.

But i cannot seem to achieve this, as they are always too small?

Any ideas?

Good morning I want to make an inquiry and see if someone can help me, buy this fabulous smarphone Huawei Ascend Mate 7 model MT7-J1, I live in Cordoba Argentina Huawei it works perfect but I have a problem ...... When you use mode Automatic preferred network (4G / 3G / 2G) leaves me not receive calls, or if I call (DISCAN) continuously given as busy, as if I were on a call, I myself make a call from another phone to my number in Huawei and not receiving my call ...... da busy line, also when I want to make a call from my first attempt Huawei terminates the call, the second attempt disappears from the notification bar 4G and only then performs the call went to my provider of Movistar service to see if my problem was SimCard, tried to take it off the other smarphone and works perfect, or is it a problem in my smarphone, I call us the attention that selecting the option .. ...... Automatic Preferred network mode (3G / 2G) ..... the problem goes away ,,,, in this way can receive and make calls perfectly, the fact is you buy this model MT7-J1 because it is the only model in this line that supports the band 4 (B4) used in Argentina to use the 4G / LTE and although all of 4G works more perfect in this smarphone I only have this problem with the calls,
If anyone can help me and know how to solve this problem really appreciate it, send mail to HUAWEI but never answered me, that's what I do not understand, because HUAWEI offers its website, if when customers have a problem never respond or offer help and here in Argentina HUAWEI service ...... not a rock, I hope you can help me thank you very much from now ........ Is my battery damaged?

So after i put in a new ROM which was lollipop styled but base was 4.4.2KK I decided to check battery temp and its showing 50C/122F
But i decided to open the case and touch it because if it was 50C i would obviously burn my hand but it couldnt be more than I'd guess 30C-35C
My device is a Xolo Q800 with a 2100 Li-Ion battery and now i'm running a 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM and its still showing 52C-59C and when i touch the battery it feels cooler than my hand (which is 37C obviously) and also the charge and discharge time is about the same as a matter of fact the new 5.1.1 ROM saves more battery and its lasting longer.
I already deleted batterystats.bin with the battery calibration app and it still shows 50C normal and while playing Mortal Kombat X at full brightness in heat outside it goes to 59C
So is my battery damaged? and if it isnt what should i do, i'm thinking of getting a new battery but this one works fine

There are some apps that when it requires a photograph, gives the user the option to open up Gallery, or some file explorer, or the Camera app (for you to take a picture right there and then).

There is one app that I use, however, that only has one option: Camera.

How can I somehow get the app to give me the option to choose a picture that I already have?

Bricked mtk6582m based clone

About a month ago I bricked a phone, Just 5 spacer, somewhat a Lenovo s660 clone
I had a backup, just5 spacer2 (mtk mt6582) which is broken now as well, beyond repairs, at least in the country I'm visiting(the local repair shop gave me a weird look and said chinese phones are too much of a mess to deal with).
not willing to buy a new one I've been trying to fix up the first one.
So I've been reading threads, and everything here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1943442&page=1 and have already noticed that I'm not the only one getting an error
s_brom_download_da_failed(2004) followed by explanation that the power is being interrupted.
the brick is complete and I'm attempting to get preloader on it,(previous attempts got me this far) I've been trying to mess with testpoints but to no avail (kcolo with gnd). volume up &down or any button combination gives no result. I cant provide any pictures of it but I'll try adding some later.
can anyone give me an advice on how to fix this?

as the thread topic suggests it's an MTK MT6582M(not the usual without m, because I already own one without m and it's completely different)

Flash Android 5.1.1 LMY48M Lollipop Factory Image for Google Nexus 10

Google has issued a brand new Android 5.1.1 Factory Image file that should patch the StageFright Security bug forever. If you want to install a clean Lollipop OS on your tablet, then you should check all the info listed in this post.
The StageFright Security bug should’ve been fixed with the previous LMY48I Android 5.1.1 release, but that didn’t happen as tons of Nexus 10 users have reported that the security vulnerability was still there. If you want to be sure that this bug is fixed, then you should flash the latest LMY48M firmware version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS on your tablet.
Installing a factory image on your will always remove all the data from your tablet and you should create backups before starting the flashing process. Read the following guidelines first:
use this post only with the Google Nexus 10 tablets.



– don’t try to update any other different tablets with the files that you will find in this post.
by installing this Android 5.1.1 LMY48M factory image you should know that the flashing process will remove all data from it.
– however, if your tablet is running a stock Android 5.1.1 LMY48I build that hasn’t been modified in any way, then you can use a small workaround in order to avoid the ‘factory reset’.
– more info on the update workaround can be found when you reach the tutorial instructions.
backup all the important files before starting the installation process.
enable USB Debugging for your tablet from its Developer Options menu.
– if you can’t find Developer Options under Settings menu, then you should enable it first: go to Settings> About Phone and tap 7 times on the Build Number section.
– return to Settings, scroll down, open Developer Options and find the USB Debugging option in order to enable it.
use this post only if you are an advanced user.
we cannot be blamed in case you end up losing any data in the process nor in case you brick your device.
check your Nexus 10 battery charge level and make sure that it is over 40%, it will prevent your device from powering down during installation.
read the whole tutorial and make sure that you won’t be skipping any steps, so that you will be able to complete the factory image installation at your first attempt.

And I am looking for a method to dump the mmcblk through ADB but without shell access. Can I force ADB to pull special files?

This device is an United TAB1023. This same device also secures /system by the kernel, and only loads signed kernels and recoveries, so I will need an unlock as well, but that's another problem.

Samsung Galaxy S5 NEO 5.1.1- Can it be Rooted?

Hello!

I am the proud owner of a Galaxy S5 NEO – SM-G903FXXU1AOGG, on Android 5.1.1.
It's a work phone and I use it for calls, texts, email and with S4 I used it in conjunction with Sidesync for work.

Turns out, Sidesync, does not support the S5 Neo, and apparently the S5 Neo does not have the mirror feature??
So, I try Airdrop, but to use airmirror, my device needs to be rooted.

So, question is, can I root this device, and if so, when will it be available?
I suppose custom Rom is not possible (ie. different camera, processor etc) yet?

Hi everyone!
Ill try to describe my problem as much as possible since I'm not very familiar with android studio and coding as well. More like noob in all this stuff - but I'm learning :)

So let's begin with the problem:
I have set up Android studio with java, all updates etc. and so far looks like all is done right. BUT!
Since I'm not hard coder and prefer to work in programs like wysiwyg there is small problem. I'm trying to create CM 12.1 theme by using source provided here : Cyanogenmod Theme Template
Everything is workin (at least I think so) fine but the problem is this:
scr1
scr2

Maybe that's the way it should be but I don't know. When i use folder /main/res/values/ ..... and put there color.xml with some color values then it shows visually colors on the left but when i copy exact the same file in /main/assets/overlays/com.android.systemui/res/values/ .... then you can see color check boxes dissapear.

My guess was that gradle somehow does not see this folder, or maybe this is really my stupid guess - well i am really confused PLEASE HELP :)

Urgent help - Galaxy S2 problems after factory reset

Hello,
I have an unlocked Galaxy S2. A friend of mine, long time ago, took care of its software.
Recently, it often stopped working because the media scanner started working non-stop.
I backed up and made a factory reset. The media scanner problem stopped but I cannot install any apps that I previously had. I can install very few new ones, mostly game apps. Also, occasionally, the phone turns off and immediately on again.
These are the phone details:

Model: GT I9100
Andorid version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: I9100XXKI3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWLA4-CL900411root@DELLBUILDER01 #2
Build number: GINGERBEAD.XWLA4

As you can see, I haven`t updated it in ages. It doesn`t let me search and install for updates.

Can someone please guide me step by step on how to fix these problems and add the best, latest android version for this phone ?
The site is full of informations and tutorials but being new I find everything quite confusing and intimidating. I really don`t want to ruin the phone completely so please help me. Thank you!!!
